In addition to regional projects, such as the 220 kV Interconnection Project for Rwanda – Burundi, the WAPP Côte d’Ivoire-Liberia-Sierra Leone-Guinea Interconnection Project, the Interconnection Project Tanzania-Kenia or the 225 kV Interconnection Project Guinea – Mali, intec has recently signed consulting contracts with REGIDESO (Burundi), REG (Rwanda) and TANESCO (Tanzania) for the construction of  220 kV  transmission lines and associated substations.

The Regional Rusumo Falls Hydroelectric Project (main project) was jointly developed by Burundi, Rwanda and Tanzania and will take a regional approach to support the three Government's strategic visions: increase of power availability in the region, establishment and increase of the volume of cross-border energy exchange and contribution to rapid regional economic development, stability and integration by developing and managing joint assets between countries.

The project consists of an 80 MW (448 GWh/year) capacity Run-of-River (R-o-R) hydropower plant and 378 km of 220 kV transmission lines and associated substations in the three countries.

Together with a Canadian partner, intec’s team will carry out the detailed design and the work supervision for the tree line sections and the new substations Muyinga and Gitega (Burundi), Bugesera (Rwanda) and Nyakanazi (Tanzania) with appropriate extensions.

The Consultant's role will be to ensure smooth implementation of the works taking into consideration technical, social, health, safety, environment, quality, schedule and costs issues, as well as efficient commissioning of the project facilities.

The project requires outstanding technological and managerial standards, in-depth knowledge and experience in the region as well as specific skills in handling complex trans-regional projects.
