Installation of eight PV plants in Mauretania
intec's Abu Dhabi branch together with the head quarter in Bad Homburg is about to finalize Technical Advisor Services for the installation of eight PV plants in Mauretania. intec's Client is MASDAR , the future energy company of Abu Dhabi, UAE. The project was inaugurated in December, only eleven month after start of construction works – a unique fast track implementation period, given the remote locations and difficult circumstances in Mauretania and the entire region.
The eight sites are located in secondary towns and the PV plants serve isolated mini grids within small villages. In total, 16.6 MW have been installed, ranging from 1 MW to 3.4 MW per site. All sites are or will be fitted with diesel engines as well to serve electrical power even after sunset. One site is also equipped with a small-scale wind park. The power stations are to be operated fully automatically as hybrid systems, with significantly lower diesel consumption than stand-alone diesel power stations.
The forecast for the yield is determined with around 31.100 MWh per year. Altogether the projects will power around 39,000 homes, save up to 10.4 million litres of diesel fuel and displace up to 27,850 tonnes of carbon emissions annually.
